Hi

Does anyone know what kind of essays the boys will have to do for the exams...Is it likely to be a letter? Is that classified as a essay?

thanks for any info in advance

The boys schools English papers have varied enormously.

Wilson's have tended to give a choice of 3 titles/ideas
Sutton tend to have no choice and not to be a traditional story -e.g. if you were prime minister for a day what would you change and why?
Wallington have asked for for something to do with the comprehension to be expanded

My sons are a bit of a long way on from this so things may have been different recently though-others may be able to give more up to date information.

I think the bottom line is that your sons need to be able to do all forms of written English work from the traditional story to presenting different sides of an argument, letters and descriptive work.
