Is it interesting? Seems to be full of inaccuracies. Tiffin don't test maths and English but VR and NVR. The results of this year's tests are not known as not released until March 1st. And Kingston Grammar is an independent school not state. Given these errors in the 1st few paragraphs, it doesn't suggest that the rest of the article is worth much - classic case of lazy journalism?

Quite right that there are errors in the report, which seems to have been written by novice journalist without proper research.

But the main facts are correct such as few Kingston children getting place in these Kingston schools and that most other grammar schools esp. for girls, have catchment areas and other rules which prevent Kingston children from getting places or even appearing for their tests (Langley, Newstead, Watford, Kent grammars are some examples).

In view of the prevailing situation, until all grammar schools adopt open selection, it is fair demand of the Kingston parents for review of Tiffin Schools admission policies.

It is so-called 'open selection' which has led to the problems we have now, with kids travelling to both Tiffins from miles away, and others travelling to Sutton grammar schools. A far better solution would be a proper catchment area policy, restricting Sutton grammars to residents of the boroughs of Sutton and Epsom & Ewell only, and Tiffin schools to residents of Kimgston and Richmond only.

Any move towards so-called 'open selection' for all grammar schools will be fiercely opposed in Sutton, and rightly so.
