Worth Sitting for Tiffin Boys? Correlating CATS Scores.

Post by mja »

Our DS consistently gets high-ish CATS scores – about 123 each for VR and non-VR respectively – so an aggregate score of 246 and I think roughly 93rd percentile nationally. It’s usually said that the Tiffin's lowest entrance score hovers around 228 for combined VR and non-VR. So my question is: is it worth entering our DS for Tiffin entrance tests?
Assuming both CATs and Tiffin are standardised on the same sample group (the national population) - it should be. But I don't know if they are standardised similarly. Any help much appreciated.

Hi

I think they are standardised within the cohort, feel free to correct me if someone knows differently. I imagine that many of the cohort will have been of above average ability, therefore his percentile ranking would likely be lower. That said, they are still very good cat scores and with some technique familiarisation and practice I'm sure he stands a very good chance. Definitely worth doing.

Good luck
