Oyster Zip - Outside London resident

This is a logistics question - we live (not far) outside London area and hence my DD will be commuting on South West Trains into Kingston for Tiffin Girls and back out again each day. I want to make sure she can hop on buses ie. 65 for the journey up and down Richmond Road. I understand my options are to either upgrade her rail season ticket to a Travelcard for about £5 extra a month or, and please tell me I'm not imagining it, I can pay £10 and get a separate Oyster zip card as an outside London resident, which will give her free bus travel? Presume I then need to get her two photocards done, one for SW trains and one for Oyster. Just wanted to check I am doing this right before I start applying online for Oyster which can take 3-4 weeks to prcoess for non-London resdients. Anyone already doing this who can confirm that I am on the right lines? Thank you.....

Hi there

I'm afraid I can't answer your detailed travel question but I applied recently for a zip oyster card online for DS as an out of London resident.

I was very pleasantly surprise when it arrived within days (rather than the 3-4 weeks mentioned on the website!

Hi WOT mum. You can def get an out of London oystercard and depending how far out you live you may be able to put a travelcard on the oyster only.

Hi supermummy, I thought I was right about the Oyster card but didn't know about the possibility of adding a Travelcard to it. She will be travelling from within the TW area, and we live in KT13, what I really need is a return ticket as it is outside London Zoning areas, but we don't need Underground travel, juts local buses - not sure where to go and ask about Oyster, ie. station inside London or Post Office, or perhaps I should ring them...? Thanks, maybe someone else will advise too.....
