Good news here too! I didn't get the email so had assumed that we were on the no list which would be sent out later. Thank goodness I went online and checked my spam folder!

Some schools really went extra mile to defeat the spirit behind the early tests and informed choices. Being one in 568 is a bit of relief, but Image doesn't end till 1st March.

It can be even more nail biting than that!
At some of girls' schools over 50% of all applicants pass the test (over 700 out of 1400 applicants passed the Wallington Girls' test). With so many applying and passing, unless they give rank position or scores at this stage, parents can still feel in the dark.

Is it my imagination or are the numbers taking the tests down this year?

Agreed. being 1/568 is not a hugely informative piece of information. It is better than the previous system for the late testing schools where you took the test after submitting the CAF and were therefore 1/1500+. About 1000 have crystal clear information - your child is not in the running for this school. And beyond that if all went apparently well there and the child passes another school then there is a likelihood that they are towards the bottom of the pass group. That too is valuable information.

I've said before that the info given to parents 3 years ago by WCGS (full ranking) was monumentally useful and made a very real difference to how we viewed the schools and made our choice. The system now is not perfect, but the imperfection in it affects far fewer people than last year, so it is certainly a step in the right direction for SGS.
