Received letter in post today.

No indication of score, just confirmation of selective ability or not which is consistent with last year.

My eldest already attends and we received school notice that advised circa 1400 sat test this year.

If this is accurate, i think its down on last year which is a little unusual but not sure whether this takes into consideration second test for absences etc.

No details in letter though.

It would have been good to be told the rank, even if they don't want to reveal the score (which is understandable).

Will wait for further comments on this post to see if I am missing out anything in interpreting their letter.

Does anyone know how many girls usually pass? I have in my head it's around the top third I'm but not sure where I've got this from.

DIY mum,

Think it's more than that - website says for 2011 entry over 1500 sat but over 800 were found to be of selective ability. Can't see why it would change much from year to year.

In fact, just seen on website that it says 1400 sat this year and about 700 were found to be of selective ability, so looks like it's still about half :D

Ok, that's useful to know. Receiving a letter saying she's of selective ability really doesn't narrow things down much at all then really. Without a score, all you know is you're in the top half.
