If Tiffin would be your first choice and if allocated it you would take the place - then put it first no question. It will not in any way disadvantage anybody else. If he is unlikely to make the cut then he will get a place at another school first. In fact he may at the first cut be allocated several schools, you will be given your highest possible preference and the rest will be rejected on your behalf upon the very valid assumption that if you put them as a higher preference you would prefer your son to go there. A child could be allocated at the first cut ALL their choices. They will be allocated their first choice an date remaining rejected places will be reallocated to a child who still haven't got their first preference and who wants a place at that school.
