Sutton Grammar has a Maths papers and an English essay paper for test 2. Am assuming it would be KS2 level Maths. Any ideas re the essay paper would be most welcome. As Sutton hasnt done this before, not sure what to expect.

I believe they have always had an essay paper, certainly DS1 did an essay 3 years ago. I know for sure because he proudly announced he had written a whole 18 lines - presumably not in his smallest hand writing as he didn't want to go to SGS.

The test has not changed this year really, it has just been split in two.

An old sticky - gives good idea about what to expect:

And we can always count on Patricia:

There is not much information about current year's tests, but the old threads do give some idea about what to expect.

As this year, Maths/English essay papers are being taken at separate sitting, I expect that Maths paper would be a longer one than before. Perhaps two sections; Maths and Extended Maths with more emphasis on problem solving questions.

Ds got letter from Sutton. Session is from 8.45 till 11. So that works out to be about 50 mins for each isn't it, with a 20 min break? Math 50 mins I can understand.. But why so much time for English? It's only an essay, right? Am I missing something impt here?
