Well done to your DD for getting offer from SPGS. Even though DD got 86.45 at TGS, she was not offered a place at SPGS.

Same here, we got a little bit over 55 and the reading/writing results are appalling...

Reading and writing results were a bit of a shocker to us as well. We thought she'd do better in English than Maths but the opposite happened! Anyway, its time to celebrate now :D

I was wondering if anyone understands how the waiting list works. My daughter got 60 points but Tiffin was her second choice. The last offer made was for 49 points. She has got into W.G but we now think that we should have put Tiffin on the list as her first choice.

Can anyone help please and does anyone think that she could still get a place?

You have be offered the highest ranked school that you met the cut-off mark for. Each child can only receive one offer so, in your daughter's case, she qualified for two schools and your council had to use the form you filled in to decide which school to decline on your behalf. In your case they accepted W.G and declined Tiffins because this is how you had instructed them to act.

It is sometimes possible to go back on this. If you ring the council and explain your reasons / change of circumstance that mean you now wish Tiffins to be your first choice you could possibly get added to the waiting list. You won't get an automatic place but it follows that if this was allowed, you'd be placed at the top of the list and would be likely to get an offer eventually.

She will not be on the Tiffins waiting list automatically because, as far as the school are concerned, you have been offered another school which you prefer more.

Thanks London mum, we got into a panic because she did not make the cut off for Nonsuch. I will be on the phone tomorrow morning to get her on the waiting list.

If none of those who scored higher than your DD (and didn't have TGS as their higher preference) also change their mind and get on the waiting list, then your DD will get the first available place. Good luck.

Thanks Tiffinboys. I think we have decided to get her on the waiting list for Tiffin. We were worried because she just missed Nonsuch with a 342 score but 90 in English which was just below the 95 points required. We also live just opposite Nonsuch. It was heartbreaking intially and with all the changes that took place in Tiffin this year, I got a bit worried and put Wallington first. Thanks for your help.
