My DD is in year 7 at WHSG and is very happy and contented there and doing extremely well. We had this same dillema last year when we had to choose between Wallington Girls and Nonsuch as my dd passed the tests for both.

What we focused on was 1. Distance time to travel to/from school as this affects their quality of life, ability to do after school clubs, homework and other stuff too; 2. What DD thought of schools and where she would fit in best and 3. Who else from her friendship groups and school would be going too as friends at 11 are really important.

We decided based on these 3 areas WHSG was best for her and we were right - although my husband would have preferred Nonsuch - and she is a very happy and contented 11 yo.

In terms of difference between the two schools - I honestly don't think there is much in it. I think if you dd is bright she will achieve academically in both schools it is the added extra's on top which make a difference. An unhappy child wherever they are will not achieve.

Good luck it is not easy but i;'m sure you will make the right choice.

All schools set required grades for 6th form entry - even comps.
In some subjects, the required GCSE grade is very high (again this is true even at comps).
Schools are required to apply the same rules to their internal and external candidates alike so cannot for example allow an internal candidate to progress where they have not met the published requirement.
