Tiffin Girls target marks
Have spent some time today to figure out what sort of marks will it take to get into TGS. Thanks to information posted by several helpful parents and few hours ( ) of surfing old messages have reached the following conclusions (probably obvious to most but not to me!)
1) one needs to be reasonably good - but not an Einstein - in all subjects or alternately really strong in any one and ok'ish in others
2) not being good in NVR is not the end of the world
3) being good in English is a distinct advantage due to 50%+ weight (reading, writing, parts of VR)
Based on 2013 intakes results, getting 130/160 on VR/NVR, 30/60 in reading, 10/20 in writing and 40/50 in maths will give DD reasonable chance of getting admitted.
Gives me some hope and wish everyone all the best!

Its not the end of the world but you cannot be too low in NVR and VR, your DD has to at least match the 450th person (age weighted) in round 1.
It might be stating the obvious but if you are not allowed into round 2, then it doesn't matter how good you are at maths and english. You wouldn't get a chance to pull your average up.
Based on the example scores you gave should be ok. I'm not sure what the exact final cut-off mark was for Sept 2013 entry, (It will be published soon when Kingston Council puts its 2014 admission brochure on its website) but is about 48.5% for the combined scores.

Thanks - that is helpful.
Do you know if the stage 2 tests of reading and Maths are multiple choice based questions or standard type questions? Also, is the writing piece based on a topic or a picture or something else?

Last year's tests were standard format. Writing task was picture based; but this year could be different, so be prepared for all types of formats.One_Shot wrote: Do you know if the stage 2 tests of reading and Maths are multiple choice based questions or standard type questions?
