Hi there,

My son has qualified in CET. He shall need to attend for Wilson, Wallington and Sutton Grammer school second stage test. Does any of you know what is the english exam pattern like?. Will it be essay writing only or does it also include Comprehension ( objective /descriptive) , punctuation, grammer etc., I appreciate your inputs.

It will be creative writing but the test will not follow a 'pattern'. At the open evenings the Heads mentioned that SPaG are as important as creative writing. My friend's DS mentioned to us that for his test he had SPaG questions, a short comprehension text and they also had to write creatively after looking at a black and white picture provided for them individually. Another year at a different GS the candidates had to write a newspaper report and questions similar to VR were also sneaked in. Unless the children are quick thinkers & confident in all areas of the subjects they might not pass.

There will be no testing of grammer.

Thanks for the info Lady Muck - really useful. Do you know of any other maths papers that are of a similar standard to MGS. We have been through them all!

Would it be possible for you to elaborate what preparations you are doing? Then others will find it easy to fill in.
