Probably a silly question re the CAF form

Post by wibble »

If we are going through the process of applying for Year 7 entry independent schools, do we legally still need to complete the CAF form? How do we tell our local education authority? Is this something his Primary school does or do we need to inform them seperately?

Sorry if this seems daft...

If you are absolutely sure of an Indie place I wouldn't bother with the CAF.
BUT if there is any chance at all you won't get a place fill the CAF in - it doesn't hurt to cover all bases and there is a deadline. If you send the form in and then take up an Indie place just let the LEA know. Part of the reason there is so much movement in the wait lists come March is that people take up an Indie place and turn down their CAF offer.

CAF is irrelevant for independent schools. Certainly we have never filled in a CAF for one of our children.
