Caterham School - Non-Sporty Pupils Treated Differently?

Post by Goodheart »

During a visit to Caterham School (an independent in Caterham, Surrey), one of the very academic pupils who was showing us around made an interesting comment about pupils who weren't particularly 'sporty'. The implication was that some teachers felt that pupils who didn't partake in sporting endeavors, or weren't on a school team, were thought 'less of' that those who did. This pupil appeared to feel that this adversely affected the pupil/teacher relationship in such circumstances.

Now, this may well have been one pupil who had one bad relationship with one teacher which they'd extrapolated to apply to the whole school. However, it might also reveal some underlying ethos within the school, so I think it's a thread worth tugging at.

Does anyone on this forum have a non-sporty DC at Caterham School? Would you care to share your experiences?
