woodbine, can u elaborate pls.
Re: Comparing QE boys and Wilsons
I think Woodbine's answer was tongue in cheek. Choose the school you think your child would be happy at, not the "best" school. There will be little to choose between academically in the "top" schools.

And QE has a big swimming pool too.
Don't mention about the pool in SGS.

OMG , you have opened up a can of worms here.
Putting Wilson & QEB parents against each other
Any thread related to QEB seems to get very heated war beraks out, have a look at the archives !
But my view is you shoud defo be sending your DS to a school in Sarf Landan , best place in the whole of UK
On a serious note, you should consider
a) where you DS will be most happy
b) The travel times, since the two schools are opossit end of London.
Most parents considering Wilson compare against St Olave's as there sort of near by to each other.

thanks parents...
we live in south london , so which ever school DS goes we need to move house.
we don't want to let him travel for more than 1 hr a day.
and how do u decide which school your DS would be happy in?

Re: Comparing QE boys and Wilsons
I'm also very much interested in this comparison. We are in a similar situation where it'll be possible for us to move closer to one of these places. We'll not be burdening our DS with the travel..
I was impressed with Wilsons for the reasons such as football and cadets.
When it comes to QE, it appears that it can be a big change for DCs in the year 7 and 8, while they might get used to the regime later. Does Wilsons do anything extra-ordinary to get the boys settled in year 7?
How does QE and Wilsons compare location wise?

Re: Comparing QE boys and Wilsons
Wilson's doesn't have a catchment area as such, but in-borough children get priority in case of tied scores. This is what it says on their website:agathachristie wrote:Wilson's also does not have a catchment area.myfamily wrote:QE doesnt have a catchment area.. thats a positive point for us.

"Does it matter where we live?
For practical reasons your son shouldn’t have a journey of more than an hour in order that he can fully participate in the wider life of the school. Where there is a tie in the scores from the entrance examinations, places are offered to boys who live in the London Borough of Sutton before those who live outside the Borough."
It felt like I hit rock bottom; suddenly, there was knocking from beneath... (anon.)
