Tiffin Boys - After School and Social

Post by snugasabug »

Hi All,
Like others we are looking at a few schools and thinking about choices for the CAF    :!:

Interested in Tiffin Boys and would love some feedback on its after-school activities and what the social life is like for the boys? Do they hang out after school? Do they form friends and meet up on weekends /and meet up in Kingston? Any parents with kids there who have some advice on this area?

Many thanks,
:? :? :? :? :? :? :?

Mmm interested in this....also was wondering about the pastoral care? My eldest ds is in another gs school which is further away...and simply love everything about that school. Especially the pastoral care, small class sizes and nurturing environment. Couldn't quite get a sense of this at the Tiffin's open evening or the Head's speech. Any feedback on this would be welcome.

My son is in his last year at Tiffin and is already sad about leaving. He's found it socially and academically excellent. He's taken part in a lot of before and after school activities, mostly sport, over the years. What's great socially is that the school is in Kingston town centre - so as they get older it's really easy for them to meet up at the weekend and grab some food, go to the cinema, go bowling etc - they all know how to get there already using their Oyster cards, or the very local ones by just walking in. Kingston is a nice town centre and there's a lot going on. If they do rowing there's training on Saturdays on the river just a few minutes walk from the centre of town/railway station/bus station. Pastoral care has been good too, and he's had very good support from form tutors and heads of year as we've gone through. Superb help/support for both GCSE and A levels, and now university applications. The staff really know what they are doing.

You're welcome!

I'm sure other grammars and non-grammars nearby provide equally good support - but Tiffin does have the advantage of being in a vibrant town centre.

I have two boys at tiffin. Tiffin has offered them everything they wished for; be it rugby and athletics in sports or drama/ music to polish their budding talent. Tiffin has something for every boy. Support from teachers is very good. As peridot mentioned that tiffin being in the town centre of vibrant Kingston , I am happy for them to go to the town centre for some food on the days they have some programme in the evening or have a friendly football match on Fairfield grounds. Teachers are easy to approach and parents form friendly groups too. Very often the Head can be spotted on Saturdays too at the rugby field(Grist) cheering the boys.

The following pages from the school website have real news about real boys (no getty images)
