Scoring at Tiffins

Can anyone please explain the scoring at Tiffin's?

I have read that students in the past have achieved marks of 225, 228 etc.

Both tests (VR & NVR) have 80 questions each (=160 questions in total).

How does one achieve a score of 225 from 160 questions? I know that they do some adjusting with age .

I'm sure this must be in the LEA Schools Admission Guide.

Basically each test is seperate. Students are scored and then there scores are normalised giving 100 as the average score. The distribution is such that the lowest gets around 70 and the highest gets around 140.

Then the two scores are added together. And then everyone is ranked.

There is an adjustment for age in that the distribution is adjusted so that the highest scoring young candidates get the same score as the highest scoring old candidates. (i.e. it is not a benefit being young but instead what happens is that young is compared to young to remove what could be an unfair advantage of being almost 10% older).

The basic rule is simple.... you need to get as many questions correct as possible.; it's a tough test; especially the NVR.
