Tiffin - Computerised marking

Post by bbrown »

As the Tiffin exam is all multiple choice, the marking is computerised. I'm not familiar with this kind of scoring. What happens if your child makes a mistake? Can a computer pick this up?

Hi
Majority of grammar schools use multi-choice format for the 11 plus exams. The Tiffin schools in Kingston are heavily oversubscribed.871 girls sat the Tiffin Girls and over a 1000 sat the Tiffin boys. All these tests are marked using computers by NFER who eventually standardize the scores according to age. My daughter sat the test last year and she was one of the lucky ones that got a place. So good luck to all of you, the initial cut off marks for Tiffin Girls and the Tiffin Boys was 234 and 226 respectively which eventually dropped to 230 and 222 respectively.
Please note the marks achieved in both tests are added together and the maximum you could score is 280.
