Hi,
Can anyone help me with the differences in grey coloured trousers for boys. We are moving from a school in the south west to one in Scotland and although I haven't got the uniform list yet the admin officer has told me the boys will be wearing charcoal grey shorts/trousers. At the moment they wear grey and I would rather off load everything before we move if they are not the right colour. I am sure when I visited the school they were wearing black! :)

reckon charcoal grey is a very dark grey ... hence the almost black appearance!

  We had to buy grey 931, or some such number and then the house tie had two versions from local suppliers, the boys preferred the purple strand to the fuchia (almost pink), it might seem silly but anything you can do to make them feel part of the crowd early on helps.

Yes I agree, Grey is much lighter than Charcoal Grey. A few goes in my washing machine and they probably look pretty much the same!

Great, thanks for all your replys. I thought they were different but a friend suggested otherwise. As we are moving from one end of the country to another, I want the boys to fit in as much as possible, so out with the grey and in with the charcoal grey! Sadly that also means lots more nametapes to sew in a very short space of time as they go back to school in August in Scotland!

They still get 5 1/2 weeks as they finish in the middle of July but we don't get a proper summer holiday as we have to move, although we are going on camping trip in the Outer Hebridies  before they start back. Actually, three boys at the age they are, I am not too disappointed it is not the 7/8 weeks they might ordinarily get!

5 1/2 weeks sounds pretty good! Hope the camping trip goes well - rather you than me though :)
