St Albans High School for Girls..............Here we come :D :D  !!!!!!!!!!!!

Very, very happy indeed - DD has done herself proud and pulled it out of the bag !

Finally the wait is over - resulting in offers from both our 1st & 2nd choice schools.

Hope everyone got some good news - remember though that even it's not exactly as you hoped, that there will be lots of movement on waiting lists over the coming weeks.

Does anyone know anything about the school coaches from the Barnet area to the High School (St Albans High School for Girls) ?

I think NLCS highly unlikely. St A's would be lovely for her, but it's a bit of a schlep. I suppose the other indie with an outside chance would be Habs. Haven't ruled out DAO or HBS, though.
BarnetDad,

Re St Albans High School for Girls being "lovely, but a bit of a schlep" in terms of travel......quite the reverse actually - the coach journey from Barnet is actually very easy indeed.

Pick up is around 8:05am from various points along Barnet Road / Wood Street / Whetstone / Totteridge, arriving at the school for around 8:30am - so less than half an hour, socialising with friends on the way - some even recon it's the best part of the school day :).

Also there is a choice of 2 coaches back in the evenings - the regular coach & the late coach for those that want to do extra-curricular after school.

How does DD1 currently get to HBS - does she use the Air Fenella coach or public transport - and how long is the journey ?

That's amazing. DD1 is using a mixture of lift with friends and public transport (tube & bus) to get to school. We drop her off at Woodside park at 7.45 for PT or 8.05 for LWF. Travel home is slightly more haphazard.

What's the price of the coach?
Mango wrote:lol re speeding ticket  - especially as our coaches are huge and bright orange/yellow.......the thought of one tearing along the narrow Barnet Road at high speed made me smile :D

You may have noticed them with the marking "PPP Coaches of St Albans" (St Albans Boys School also have their own seperate coaches that are exactly the same but takes a slightly different route through Barnet).

Not sure where you are located but once it's picked up from Totteridge, Whetstone, Wood Street & the last pick up point on Barnet Road, its non-stopping (traffic permitting) straight in to St Albans - hence it only taking half an hour from Barnet.

The school has an extensive coach service (10 different routes), with close to half of it's pupils travelling in, so it is run very professionally.

The cost ranges from £450 - £500 per term - depending on where your pick up point is.

Hope that helps.

Mango - many thanks for the information - very useful indeed.

Does anyone know of any DC who are currently, or will be, travelling on the coach from the Barnet surrounding areas eg Edgware, Mill Hill, Finchley, Totteridge, Whetstone etc.

Hi

I've just recently joined but not new to this forum - just a lurker who has gained valuably from this wonderful webiste.

I came across this Thread from last year, and wondered if there is anyone in the same boat this year ?

This is our first choice school - DD did well and we greatfully accepted our offer last week. :D

We live near the Barnet area and wondered whether anyone knows of any other DCs that will be travelling on the school coach. I beleive that the coach runs from Mill Hill or Edgware, through Toteridge, Barnet and straight to the school.

Would also be great to hear from anyone else joining SAHS this September !

Congratulations to all of you who were successful! My eldest daughter went to SAHS (she's 21 now, left in 2008) and said it was the best time of her life. I'm sure yours will all have an amazing time too :)
