If one is looking at independent schools - is there financial help or a way of reducing the fees at all?

Thank you :D

there are bursaries which reduce the amount of fees usually by a percentage. Amount and number on offer depends on the school and is means tested (often each year)

there is also the scholarship route, where depending on performance at exam, a percentage is awarded for the life of the school career. Not linked to parental income, available to all.

Hi there. It depends on individual schools but typically a bursary could cover all the fees but for this to be the case you would need to have a genuinely low income and also for your child to perform very well at the entrance examination. Generally bursaries cover a lower % and are means-tested.

Scholarships are not means-tested but often only offer a discount of 10% to 20%.

At my DD's school maybe 20% receive some kind of discount.

A good start would be to search out schools of interest online and if the information is not on their website contact them directly.
