Our interview was yesterday. It was a 9.30 - 2pm event, with separate formal interviews with the headmaster - first the parents, then the children, and informal chats with several other members of staff who all make up the selection committee. There were tours of the school for the parents whilst the children were doing activities under the supervision of the staff. We also had lunch with the staff, who rotated between courses so that everyone got to speak with everyone else.

This was the 3rd day of interviews. There are approx 15 children still being considered, for approx 8-10 places across the school (i.e. 11+, 13+ and 6th form).

It was all lovely and fairly relaxed, and DD was her usual bubbly self all day and seemed to be having a ball, but I feel terribly depressed, as it seems impossible we will be one of the lucky ones, and I'm afraid that was our last visit to the school.

When this is the only option other than a so-so state secondary, it all means so much more than those who are lucky enough to have several options.

Decisions will be made and we will be informed around Feb half term. Then, either way, we can at least get on with our lives and get out of this sort of limbo we have been in since last May.

Just read through all of this, I wish you all the best with your journey, the waiting is horrible.

I am currently waiting on Primary allocation for my daughter and doing prep for my son's 11+ in Sept. It would be great if I could fast forward a year and have a peak at what the future holds to see if all the stress will be worth it!
