My son attended the interview last year. In the lead up to it various posters here suggested that parents should prep their kids with the latest current affairs. Others suggested that the child should be able to talk about classics that he has read.

I don't know if DS's interview was typical but none of the above was applicable. Of the questions he was asked, two stuck in my mind:
1) If you were asked to come up with a motto for the school, what would it be?
2) If I were to give you a cereal box how many different uses for it could you come up with?

Schools like Habs know that parents prep their kids so they try to avoid stock questions that get stock answers.

I suggest that you talk to your son and help him elucidate a reason why HE wants to go to Habs and avoid the stock answers that the master has heard several times that week. Then get him to practice talking about himself - what interests him? what is he looking forward to in his secondary school? which lesson does he like and why?

Habs makes no attempts to hide the fact that they like winners. The newsletter for example is always full of news about how Habs won this and Habs won that. So if your son has any achievements then highlighting it is good.

Good luck
