Alpha, Buxlow, Reddiford

I am considering the three schools for my ds. I will appreciate feedback from parents of current or past students on
1. the pastoral care
2. preparation for 11+
3. extra curricular activities
4. Ethos and teaching methodology
Alpha and Buxlow state that they are traditional schools. What does that mean? Are they more academic with less extra curricular activities? Are they more domineering in their ways and more likely to tell the children what to do than encourage the children to develop independent thinking? Does anyone know the methodology in Reddiford and whether they prepare children for 11+?
