A family friend's DD recently went from the prep to the main school. Earlier the mum asked the form teacher if she should be worried. The teacher said that the parents of any girls that would likely fail the exam would have been politely asked to reconsider whether Habs was the right school for DD in earlier years.

So, you can take it as a given that the prep kids will take up their places. And there is no interview for them.
