Hello. Does anyone have an idea about Latymer Upper Schoo ( Hammersmith)? My son is in state now. Could you let me know or recommend some good VB books? Thank you.

Thank you, Guest. "Bond books, NFER and IPS" - are enough to pass the exam? Or your daughter had a private tuition? I am not sure how/what extent to prepare for VB.

Is he musical? I know they are very keen on those who play an instrument. My niece is starting in sept. I can find out what prep you will need.

Latymer Upper is the boy's school. Godolphin and Latymer is the girl's school (both in Hammersmith). I don't know about the entrance requirements but make sure you find out information for the boy's school. They may not be the same exam.

Hi Smile mum,

We did not have ant tuition for VB. We had tuition for story writing. I felt I could not teach her. However the 11plus English tool kit is very good. I think that did the trick.

Checkout this article. Written by a Latymer Upper teacher last January it gives a useful insight into the process.

I know a couple of kids who go there - both went to ordinary state schools and got in with minimal preparation. I think they are looking for kids who really WANT to go there and possibly have interesting non academic skills, arts/sport as well as music.

Dear all,
Thank you so much for your information. So kind you are.

Dear jenny wren
My son can only play the piano, which is just basic level...

Dear Guest
His class teacher said that my son could pass the exam, however, he needed to prepare for VB. Today, he's got the result ( mini-Sats), he's got three 5s in Literacy, Math and Science.

Dear Nou
Thank you for letting me know the Website. I will check it asap.

Many thanks to you all.

All my daughter did was the papers, described above. If you run out of papers, do them.

I will probably start at Bond assessment papers, book for 9-10, after you do thse, do the 10-11, Then Nfer, IPs. We found IPS was hardest, But they get the hand of it.
There is also a bit of maths in VB
