No, like DG said why would the schools even bother interviewing candidates if the "ranking" has already been decided? At my school it is done by which school the candidates went to for primary. I think that's to alleviate nervousness - people relax more when surrounded by people they know. After all, they do want to see you at your best so they can make the most informed choice.
