HABS Scholarships - what do they really mean? Is it just an incentive?
How many do they give out? How do they decide if its 10% or 20% that is awarded?
Any insight will be interesting? Thank you.
(DS was awarded a 10% scholarship - for which I am nothing less than proud)

I can't comment directly on Habs, but DD was offered a scholarship at Palmers Green (I know much much smaller than Habs!!)
They have major and minor scholarships and it is based on 11+ results.
I was told by Head in scholarship exam she had come top 10 in science and English but top 20 in maths so we would be offered a minor scholarship not a major scholarship.
The major scholarship is 50 - 25% and minor is 25 - 16%
All scholarships at pghs are means tested, hence the banding.

It means they really want you and are trying to coax you away from your other choices because they know by the quality of your marks that you would have received offers from other schools. This is why it is better to play the game and apply for other schools so the one you really want will bid for you. DG
