hi everyone, advice needed. my son has been asked to attend interview for an ap at kes. Does anyone have any ideas what kind of questions they will be asked. I had the call on Friday afternoon and was quite shocked that it was so soon after the exam. she did mention that he had done exceptionally well in the exam and the ywanted to invite hime for interview for an assisted place. What does it mean?? help :D  :?:

It means that you have applied for a bursary... ...and he will be interviewed, as will all the other boys who have done well enough in the exam and have applied for a bursary (assisted place) and then the school will decide whether to offer him a place (I would imagine they will, unless he comes across very poorly at interview) and, more importantly for you, how much, if any, bursary they will give him. A high proportion of boys applying for ap will be offered a place but with no financial reduction as there are always more boys than money available.

If you search back through the threads to last year, Natalie74 went through the process with her son and was very open about the whole process. She may even have given an idea of the sort of questions asked. Actually, scrub that...have a look here - key is not to try to over-prepare your son as KES wants the interview to be unpredictable and don't like rehearsed answers...!!

It means they will certainly offer him a place of some description. An AP or scholarship interview at KES means the candidate has done well enough in the exam to be offered a place, the interview is then to decide whether to offer an AP/scholarship or whether to offer a place without (a "full fee" place). For borderline candidates it's to decide whether to offer a place or not (but any offer will be at full fees).

Anyone who doesn't get an interview will either be offered a full-fee place or will not be offered a place.
