The Abbey, Reading

Post by Booklady »

Just wondering what any of your DD's who sat this entrance exam on Saturday thought of it? My DD thought it was significantly less difficult than the local 11+ exams, but with a tricky last maths question, and some tricky vocab in the comprehension. The rest was all OK though.

We'll see when we get the results!!

Got no responses here - but chatted on PM with another entrant.

DD passed The Abbey - and also got a drama scholarship :D :D - so for anyone in the future who wants to know about the process - feel free to contact me.

Hi
Just wondering if anyone can tell me more about The Abbey school in Reading exam. Not much information on their website, my dd will be sitting it this year.I know that they will be tested on maths, English and Reasoning but very much appreciate a little more insight into it from anyone whose daughter sat tge test in the last couple of years.
1.Are there 3 papers or 2 and how long will each paper take?
2).What genre of topics are they given for their writing task?
3) Is the the writing task part of the English paper or separate ?
4) I assume story writing may be one of the options offered as part of the writing task -Are they given aa topic on what the story is about or can they write any story they want?

Any advice on the above will be much appreciated.
Thank you.
