I do love the thought of plush 'Academies' being a threat to Independents. I think some forget that the initial swathe of Academies were failing schools and are far from plush. Many of them are still having problems. I suspect they mean the Grammar Academies. I hope when David Cameron realizes his dream to turn all schools into academies he also tackles the problem of the un-equitable quality of these Academies.

Also suspect that if these Independents were having problems filling spaces then they wouldn't be raising their fees - Supply and demand. Plus did he not see the stats posted here a while back on Independent candidates v state and allocation of places at Cambridge?
