JAGS verbal reasoning style?
I would like to get some information regarding JAGS(James Allen Girls School in Dulwich, London) VR.
I cannot find any from school website.
If anyone has experience, could you please share?
Is it similar to CEM or GL? Multiple choice or standard?
Thank you in advance.

Re: JAGS verbal reasoning style?
Where is JAGS and what does it stand for? Not everyone will know the abbreviation although I suppose if they know the school they will

Not a school I know, but I looked at their website and thought it strange they provide examples of their English and Maths papers but nothing for VR.
Re: JAGS verbal reasoning style?
Our local selective school consortium used to provide copies of past English and Maths papers, which were written in-house, but no VR papers. These were provided by GL, who would not allow the consortium to sell them.booellesmum wrote:Not a school I know, but I looked at their website and thought it strange they provide examples of their English and Maths papers but nothing for VR.

This is very common, to provide samples of the English and the Maths and not of the VR. I expect it is old standard VR so do some Athey or Walsh to prepare. It will not be CEM otherwise they would be able to have an example booklet.
St Albans High School for Girls and Habs girls have both abandoned VR this year so I am surprised JAGS is still using it.
It will not be as important as the English and the Maths. DG

Thank you for all your advice.
I have never heard Athey or Walsh before, but this is helpful to know.
It would be interesting to see how they work.

Does it means the school can weigh three subject differently? It will not be as important as the English and the Maths. DG

Re: JAGS verbal reasoning style?
Our VR paper used to account for 50% of the overall score and the English and Maths 25% each.sunandcloud wrote:Thank you for all your advice.

Have you tried emailing or phoning the school?
It is verbal reasoning, though - i.e.'figuring out'...

You can buy Athey and Walsh VR papers in the forum shop next day delivery.
In my experience of the London private schools for girls the English and Maths papers are always more important and City, NLCS, Habs, St Albans and all the schools in the North London Consortium do not do VR and weight 50% English and 50% Maths. DG

Re: JAGS verbal reasoning style?
I'd be curious to know why schools are dropping VR.
In my area, some schools still have it for entrance, or use it down the road on scholarship assessment days.
