I assume we are talking about the Abbey School Reading.

Apologies for hijacking your question but I thought I would use the opportunity at the same time to gain some infomation on behalf of my nephews daughter (elder sisters son's daughter who all live together in an extended family)who has just turned 7 now and is at Abbey having joined in September last year. She left Polehampton Junior and Infants which was an excellent school.

When I was reading the Abbey school website I read only about 45% of the sitters get a place following the test. The test is in Mathematics , English and Reasoning. Is it worth them trying for a place at Kendrick when she is average in her present school ? They are in the appropriate postcode in a village outside Reading.

Thank you Tinkers for the "duffers guide to Kendrick now Berkshire" on the Berkshire part of the forum. This answers in great detail the questions I needed help upon.I hadn't read it previously but stumbled across it today.

Glad it helps.
It was originally written before the test changed.

As for your relative, I guess it is too early to tell. When my DD was in year 2 we certainly wouldn't have thought about Kendrick, it was year 4 before she started to take off academically and as I mentioned in the Duffer's guide, even her year 5 teacher was doubtful she would get in.

She is now year 9 and doing well at Kendrick.

Thanks for the guide. My sister, my brother in law and their grand daughter came down last night and we were able to discuss a few things. They are down to collect a piano and a digital piano which my daughters and my younger brothers children no longer need or use.Their grand daughter is very excited about it as she is loving her piano lessons.Whilst my youngest is four years older than my sisters grand daughter and technically her aunt they enjoy spending time together.Their only thought this morning will be to be allowed to play in the snow.Just a thin layer here.
