I see no evidence of this at our 2 premier private girls schools-Withington Girls or Manchester Girls High School(sibling to MGS)-competitive as ever.
And for our premier girls state grammar AGGS, competition is getting more and more ferocious.

Yamin it may be similar to here - that the boys are happy where they are and the girls fancy a move, for whatever reason. As I said up thread, the girls' grammar schools here empty out (well not quite, but you get my point) at sixth form, and the boys don't . I think about half my son's Y12 is made up of girls, and only a handful of new boys came in. That was down to applicant profile I think rather than any kind of positive discrimination.
