On their website under exam entrance timetable it talks of 12+ dates. Has anyone ever tried this? Do you know what subjects are tested?

Thanks.

There are lots of local preps who focus on this and will have been preparing for sometime.

I wonder if it will be eventually phased out as it has been for the girls. It seems to me odd to be arriving just as GCSE's are being chosen when you have not really had a chance to experience the subjects at the school.

The preps run the whole thing. One of the fathers told me he never even saw an exam paper or even really knew what his ds was being tested on. DG

At my son's school they simply expect prospective non-formal entry point pupil to sit the relevant yr internal exam that incumbent pupils have already done,so it is easy to make direct comparison.

So,I think, for our year 8 entry they are made to sit exactly the same exam that has already been taken by end of year 7 students or year 1 depending on the nomenclature the school uses.

I think they only test in maths,English, science and one MFL or ancient language of your choice for yr 8 entry.

Most probably completely irrelevant w.r.t St Albans .

The 12+ is a pre test for 13+ entry. i think it is the same subjects as 11+ and then followed by the common entrance the next Jan.
