Anyone lucky enough to be called for an interview yet, following Friday's exams?

I am not sure if they are following the same procedure as last year but if they are, the first to be interviewed were the scholarship candidates, then about a week later they called the others for interview, before finally sending out offers. I know this because one of my students won a scholarship, one was interviewed (did not pass it but was later offered a place after the KE state clearout in March) and the other 2 pupils were offered places without needing an interview.
I wouldn't try second guessing what is happening, however. The year before I had a pupil who had been told by his independent school he had little chance of passing; when he wasn't called for interview (along with the children his mother considered his intellectual peers), she was extremely upset, believing he had not achieved entry. Instead he was in the top 60 odd and got in without an interview.
So don't draw conclusions from anything.
Hope this is helpful.

Thank you again for the calm voice of reason! Your advice is so valuable, I now realise it is futile to attempt to second guess anything. I will try to forget about everything until the really important day, March 4th! Many thanks and GOOD LUCK to you, your daughter and pupils for the Offers day.

Hi

My son did the KES exam in 2006 and was offered a scholarship.

I recall in that year the scholarship interviews were from the Tues of the following week. We were contacted by phone and told that they wanted to interview him for scholarship (and hence he was going to be offered a place); we were given a choice of dates. Also I recall the the primary school head was also contacted. I think they followed up with a letter.

However I think in that year they also interviewed borderline candidates at the same time. The interview was with the head.

The results came out fairly quickly after that.

Yes, this is absolutely right. I was hoping my son would get an interview (for scholarship not borderline reasons!) as we couldn't really afford the fees, but they didn't call him. He got a letter offering him a place though, so he must have done OK in the test. Only 4 more terms to pay for now!

I got a call yesterday for my son to be interviewed next week - they didn't mention it was a scholarship interview ... I hope it's not because he's on the borderline :-(

Well done to your son! I only have limited knowledge of this system, but of the two boys I know of last year called for an interview, both were successful! Just out of curiosity, what time of day were you called?! Try not to worry and the very best of luck to your son!

Hi Kegs Dad

Thanks for the good wishes!

The lady tried to call me at home and then my wife's mobile (which she has to leave in the locker at work) - so go through to me at work, just before 4 yesterday.

Obviously I am hoping he may get offered a scholarship as I'm not really sure if we can afford the school at full fees - (I've also got a another son 2 years younger to consider as well).

Kegs Dad - Try not to worry too much about getting the call for the interview [easier said than done, I know] but from what others have posted it seems like alot do get offered places without it.
