Independent Schools - Public Benefit Letter

Post by KenR »

Not sure if everyone is aware of the letter written in June by Andrew Hinds of the Charity Commission to all Independent School Heads about the Public Benefit debate. This is available at:

http://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/Lib ... letter.pdf

I also noticed today that the following schools have been selected for the pilot audit by the Commission:-

Manchester Grammar School
Manor House School Trust, Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire;
Pangbourne College in Berkshire;
St Anselm's School Trust, Derbyshire;
Highfield Priory School, Lancashire

The results will be published in Spring 2009.

Quite a positive letter I thought, so it might be that the risks about loss of Charitable Status might be a bit of a red herring for many schools
