Hi to all, My son is 11 years old and is sitting the entrance exam for Merchiston Castle School in Edinburgh, in January.
I have received a letter today explaining that he will be undertaking tests in Mathematics, English and general aptitude on the Interactive Computerised English Assessment System (inCAS).
I have never heard of this type of assessment and tried to Google it, but couldn't find any examples of the assessments.
I am a little worried for him because he has not done any computer assessments at his current school, indeed they rarely do any IT. How can I help him? Any ideas would be greatfully received

Many thanks K

Hi Kosar,

How is your son doing and how are you feeling in the run up to the exams?

Fingers crossed! :D

My DD sat this test 2 days ago in her exam for Old Palce School.
She said it was a mixture of VR+Eng+Maths.
We haven't practiced it anywhere and she has a good command of keybord + confidence to use computer etc.

Some types of VR were missing she said, but over all she found it quite easy (lets wait and see on that ... :-)

I guess if you've done the usual stuff for VR he's going to be fine.

Hi Tipsy, I think we are doing fine !!. We have had a very hectic Christmas, with DS at his dad's for most of the holidays, so work wise we haven't done much, but hey "Que sera sera"

Isamum thanks for sharing that information with me. We have been concentrating on English most because this is his weakest subject. He enjoys VR and Maths and I think thats half the battle, if they enjoy it they tend to do well in it (i'm hoping anyway)
