Hi All

In one of the exams my dd will sit on Friday 23rd January is what the school term 'A reasoning paper containing a range of questions in spatial awareness'.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what they mean by this exactly?

I may be wrong but could it be to do with direction i.e Rory was facing West, he turned right twice and left three times, what direction is he facing.

We have seen these questions in independent school exam preparations.

to see if you can work out a 3D position from a 2D picture.

I'm hoping it's NVR and desperately hoping AB is wrong (sorry AB) - better do some prep on those sorts of things 'just in case'!

Don't know why it didn't occur to me to just ring them up and ask them though

I think most of it will be NVR but we did prepare the nets, cubes, flags, direction, rotation as we did not know what will come up for the independent school exams and at least child will be somewhat prepared.

Anyhow, we did them together like puzzle games and a few at a time and it seemed more fun than study.

I don't mind being wrong. Nobody is perfect.

Seriously though, I get the gut feeling it is NVR, but also that it would include for cubes etc, which we haven't done 'cos it wasn't included for 11+ - better get practising a few, but already know dd doesn't like them

I can feel a few incentives coming on

Did you ring the school and get confirmation?

We used a small plastic tupperware box and drew pics on all the faces in washable felt tips. So much easier to see and after a very, very short time, child could 'see' the cube mentally.

I didn't like them too. I am a hands-on person and can't see what is beyond my nose.
The cube was more for me than child.

AB - I hate to say this  - but the cube idea is fantastic! I knew all these stored takeaway boxes would come in useful!
