Letter Sequences

There are three types of letter sequencing that can all be worked out in the same way.
1.
AB BC CD DE EF FG ??
Working with a simple example.
Children who have difficulty with this sequence try to make an association between AB and BC and CD etc.
However, the key is to realise that there is no association between the individual pairs of letters.
The solution comes from:
First letter sequence
A B C D E F G
and the second letter sequence
B C D E F G H
If you consider this sequence
AT DQ GN JK MH
There appears to be no logical solution until you split the sequence
First letter sequence
A D G J M
The sequence is moving forward three letters each time, so the next letter is 'P'
Second letter sequence
T Q N K H
The sequence is moving back three letters each time, so the next letter is 'E'
So the solution is obtained by moving forwards or backwards along the alphabet.
But, what happens if the sequence is at 'Y' and you want to move forward four places, or the sequence is at 'B' and you want to move back four places.
In these situations you need to consider that the alphabet repeats itself after 'Z' and reverses before 'A' e.g
XYZ ABCDE.................................WXYZ ABCD
So 'Y' forward four is 'C'
and
'B' back four is 'X'
2.
DH is to KN
as
CD is to ??
Again look at first letter, second letter pattern.
First letters
'D' to 'K' is forward seven
Second letters
'H' to 'N' is forward six
Use this information to solve the question
'C' forward seven is 'J'
'D' forward six is 'J'
The answer is JJ
3.
The code for VERBAL is XGTDCN
what is the code for TUTORS?
'V' to 'X' is forward two
'E' to 'G' is forward two
'R' to 'T' is forward two
'B' to 'D' is forward two
'A' to 'C' is forward two
'L' to 'N' is forward two
The code for TUTORS is worked out in the same way
T = V
U = W
T = V
O = Q
R = T
S = U
