They should be using APP (Assessing Pupils Progress) and teacher assessment - not tests anyway

I don't know which paper they sat in Y7 - perhaps you could ask to see it?

Thanks Guest55, I'll ask tomorrow. All I know was that it was 3 tests - 2 written papers and a mental maths test. The teacher was telling me the other day that it was an optional SATs paper for year 7s but I didn't think to ask any more details.

It is probably a level 4 to 6 paper then - so 6a would be the highest.

Thanks Guest55. (I'm off to have a proud parent moment now :D) It'll be interesting to see what the compulsory SATs results are then. I read the other day that there are problems with the marking again this year, do you know if that is right?

I have read (so no evidence beyond that!) that there have been some problems in English -

wrt standards, I'm guessing actually that it was a school's assessment of his standard rather than an official test, although tests from official-looking printed forms are undertaken twice a term. The school issues order grades half termly (attitude and achievement) and his progress shows a massive leap due, I am sure, to confidence. Certainly from the mass of maths work he has doing there is no evidence of "dumbing down" in this subject at GS.
