DS sons school have told us definately not sitting SATS this year.
Instead they are using the 'Progress in Maths' test, the Suffolk Reading Scale and Single Word Spelling Test.

All are GL Assessment tests and do not seem to be available to anyone outside the teaching profession. Cant seem to find any test booklets or papers.

Has anyone heard of these tests and how similar to the GL Assessment 11plus practice papers are they.

Ds has just sat the 11plus and so is familiar with these tests.

Would be grateful for any information on these tests and how they compare to the SATS as a viable alternative.

I have not come across these tests before. However, I wouldn't worry about them if I were you. These tests are for assessing the school rather your DS.

That being said, like you I would want to know about these tests as well. I am too much the pushy dad. Oh well, these things are sent to try us. The only reassurance I can offer is that if you have prepped for SATs and 11 plus then you have done everything you could do already.

At my dd school they use the progress in maths gl assessment every year. Its an age standardised test like the 11 plus, but they can also relate it to a sats level. We get gvien the standardised test result and the sats level it relates to when the kids sit this test. Hope this helps a bit. Not sure about the reading test, have you searched online for info on it :?: :)
