As a teacher in a secondary school, I have noticed this year that the new year 7s coming up appear to have over inflated KS2 levels. None of our feeder schools did the SATs this year and all are teacher assessment based levels. The sheer quantity of level 5s is staggering, yet I see no increase in the average ability of students.

Dare I suggest that schools may have enhanced the levels for their own purposes?

One of our local schools boycotted Sats but gave the children Sat style exams for assessment purposes. They made all the children resit the English exam because they were unhappy with the scores. :?
