Recently my DD brought home a letter from her teacher saying she needs preparation for SATS. Not that she is not bright; she got a place at a grammar school but, as you probably know, all teachers expect good results from the students in their class. Except past SATS papers what other material do you recommend?

In my opinion... At this point I'd go for nothing more than early nights, fresh air, a good book and lots of fun. You've put in a good grounding with the GS preparations. I'd read the paper together, discuss what you read, press for complex language, finding inference, play number games, but nothing more formal. If my children's experience is anything to go by, they'll be very well drilled at school. M
