Assertive mentoring?

Post by panicmum »

Any maths teachers about?
My DC has being doing these assessments this year for the first time.
I don't know much about them, can anyone enlighten me?
This is what I think I know: assessments weekly and half term tests.

What would one do to reach the next level if they were achieving 24/25 every week. What sort of mark scheme do they use?

It's designed to improve mental maths skills. Our school has used it for about 3 years. The children do a weekly skills test, aiming to improve their score each week. They also do a big test at the end if each half term. Depending upon scores/progress they then move up to the next level. It's helps identify the specific areas each individual child needs support in. The children seem to like it as the emphasis is on beating your previous score, even if it's only by one point each time. It's also good for speed techniques, useful for the 11+!
