Wife just got back from work and there it was on the mat, nervous wait on the phone while she opened it and read the first paragraph.

The process all now seems to have been worthwhile !!!
Thank you to Sally-Anne and Etienne for their sage advice (and for the friends who went through this a couple of years ago for recommending this website) - the work you do and the possibility of sharing experiences with others, really does help to prepare for something that is hopefully a one off but massively stressful experience in people's lives.
