Do you think I should appeal?
Apologies in advance as this is my first post and a bit long winded.
My son failed Urmston by 11 marks but passed for Sale with 362 marks. We live in Flixton, and have already appealed to Urmston, carried out by the school, which was unsuccessful. The reason we feel that we should appeal is that my son was being bullied terribly at the time, and even police intervention was necessary. Once that was over and things were back to normal, he showed his true colours at the Sale exam.
We have been told that we may be able to appeal to Sale on the grounds of him being disadvantaged by not getting the education he deserves, assuming he doesn't get in now due to being outside the catchment area. His current sat predictions are excellent, level 5, his school and form teacher feel that he needs a grammar school education.
i wonder what other posters think, and whether they would appeal in these circumstances if they were in our shoes? Would you pay for someone to put this argument forward or are we whistling in the wind?

It would be surprising if he did not get into Sale based on distance.
All Trafford GS take kids upto 8 miles and often more (eg Lymm to Altrincham).
Many kids that pass Sale will have passed other GS (Sale, Urmston, Stretford) and potentially independent school so the total passes does not mean the number that want to go to Sale.

Flixton Mum,
Without a doubt - what greater extenuating circumstances could you have.
Can you imagine him having to face the bullies if they moved to the same local school - It does not bare thinking about and I would fight tooth and nail.
I hope you DS is now okay and the schools acted promptly to resolve.
