Ombudsman to deal with internal school complaints

Over the next year and a half, the role of the Ombudsman is being extended to include internal school complaints. In almost all cases the complaints must, of course, first be considered at school level before the Ombudsman will get involved.

The first phase will involve maintained schools in just four LA areas. A further group of LAs is expected to be included from September 2010, and the full service should be rolled out nationally from September 2011.
