 Post subject: LINCS APPEAL
PostPosted: Mon Jan 15, 2007 7:09 pm
WE HAVE JUST SUBMITTED AN APPEAL ON BEHALF OF OUR MIDDLE DAUGHTER WHO WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN SEPTEMBER. THE APPEALS ARE DUE TO HELD IN MARCH. I HAVE ONLY JUST DISCOVERED THIS SITE AND TO MY HORROR HAVE REALISED THAT I'VE PROBABLY BROKEN EVERY RULE REGARDING AN APPEAL STATEMENT IN TERMS OF LENGTH AND CONTENT. WE ARE IN A DESPERATE SITUATION HERE. SHE IS A BRIGHT CHILD BUT NOT A NATURAL ACADEMIC. WE FEEL THAT IN TERMS OF HER WELFARE, EDUCATION AND SOCIAL INTERACTION, THE LOCAL GRAMMAR IS THE ONLY PLACE FOR HER TO GO. THE LOCAL SEC MOD, WHILST BEING WELL LED HAS A REASONABLE STANDARD OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS BUT SOME OF THE SUB-CULTURES WITHIN THE STUDENT BODY ARE REALLY SOMETHING ELSE!! WE JUST CANNOT BRING OURSELVES TO SEND HER - SHE WOULD SIMPLY NOT SURVIVE THERE. THE ALTERNATIVES ARE TWO VERY LOW ACHIEVING SEC MODS SOME DISTANCE FROM US. ANY OTHER VIABLE SCHOOLS ARE OVER SUBSCRIBED AND WE SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD TO EDUCATE HER PRIVATELY. I KNOW THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT ANYBODY CAN DO FOR US BUT I JUST NEEDED TO SAY SOMETHING. THERE HAS TO BE SOME ALTERNATIVE TO HAVING TO SEND YOUR CHILD TO A ZOO WHERE THEY WILL GET EATEN ALIVE BY SOME OF THE LOW-LIFES THAT INHABIT SUCH PLACES.

Hi George,
it must be really difficult for you. What can one say? Lets just hope for the best ,you never know you may be sucessful on the appeal,I hear it very much depends on the panel. If you get an opportunity to speak at the appeal, use all the positive' info' you have gleaned from here! Could you relocate at all? That could be another option if your current locals are a no no.
I wish you all the best.

Hi george

Don't panic - you can use the information gleaned from this site in your presentation - concentrating on her academic ability. You can take additional material with you to the appeal - keep it concise though and relevant. Have a good read through all of the appeals correspondence.

Hi George

You are not alone with this dilema.

My local comps are pretty rough places to be.. A friend of mine says St Trinian's is a walk in the palk compared to this one two miles from me.

A gang of boys from this school have recently made the local paper for putting another boy from another school in Hospital with severe head injuries,

So it's all in this together. I can't risk my daughter going these places.

If she doesn't pass the 11+ then it's Beachy Head for me ;-(

Good luck.,

Darren
