We are appealing for our daughter as she didnt do well on her english paper due to circumstances at home over the weeks leading up to the exam. Does anyone have any more information for us? We have sent letters confirming appointments at Papworth Hospital regarding testing for ARVC on her brother and sisters, and confirmation that her brother and sisters lost their dad in june last year as well. Letters confirming her little brother has ASD which was confirmed in late October and letters confirming our family business was lost at the same time. Have sent letter from Headteacher at her primary school showing that she should be mid to high 5's in the sats in May. Anything else that we should send?? no help from Essex County Council

Her weighted score was 320.629
English 16
Maths 29
VR 60
she didnt finish any of the papers and left so many blank

We appealed to both the boys' super-grammars in Essex last year. On the assumption that you are referring to either Chelmsford County High or Colchester County High I have sent you a PM with more info.

We put in a late application to WHSB last year and our DS went straight to top of waiting list and had been allocated a place before the end of March.

Hopefully you have my PM.

Good luck

spoke to someone dealing with our new application for westcliff and they said we have to call back on 7th april so fingers crossed. just putting some more information together for our appeal to CCHS Colchester County High School for Girls so again fingers crossed but i do think the appeal system is just something that they have to let us go through but it is made so difficult that i dont think we will win but we will see as and when we get a date

I do know how you feel. Last year all the evidence was that no-one wins appeals to the 4 super-selectives. We did win though so it can be done. Just hold on to the thought that your DD is worth it.

Good luck.

At least you're on the list. I don't know about the Girls' school but last year the parent of the boy who was 16th on allocation day were top of the list for WHSB from July and he didn't get a place unless something happened at the beginning of term - look at "Maymum" on Essex forum. I also know that her DS went down the list and, I think was at number 20 something at one point. So, if the girls' list moves about the same you should have good news at some point :D

Very good luck

we have been offered at place at westcliff but we have appeal date for colchester girls grammar set for 23 may. not sure what we should do as we have to accept the westcliff place before the 23 may and not sure if we do if we can still attend the appeal.

Absolutely you can.

Accept the place at Westcliff and go ahead with your appeal. We made late application to WHSB last year. Were allocated place by mid-march, appeled to CRGS and won at end of June and once we had offer letter as well as decision letter only then rejected place at WHSB.
